13th Annual Summer Public Health Research Videoconference on Minority Health

The topic of this year's broadcast is "Does Racism Make Us Sick?". The topic will be presented by Luisa N. Borrell, DDS,MPH,PhD, from the Columbia University School of Public Health, Gilbert C. Gee, PhD, from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, Karina Walters, MSW,PhD, the William B. and Ruth Gerberding Endowed Professor at the University of Washington School of Social Work, and David R. Williams, PhD, the Florence Sprague Norman and Laura Smart Norman Professor of Public Health at Harvard University. The two-hour session will be moderated by Stephanie Crayton, Media Relations Manager at UNC Health Care, who has moderated our opening session for the past several years.

The local audience at the Stone Center will include the fellows from the Kellogg Emerging Leaders in Public Health program at the NC Institute for Public Health, the students attending the NC Health Careers Access Program Summer Enrichment Program, the students participating in the SPGRE program, and other groups.

The 13th Annual Videoconference is being presented by the UNC SPH Minority Health Project and the UNC Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs. With the end of our CDC grant, funding this year comes from contributions from a large number of UNC organizations, led by the School of Public Health, the UNC Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, and UNC General Administration. Additional co-sponsors to date include the Center for Innovations in Health Disparities Research, UNC Institute for African American Research, School of Pharmacy, Carolina Women's Center, and the NC-HCAP.
