Biographical Sketch:

Dr. Faith Davis is Professor in the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the School of Public Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Davis has 20 years of experience in conducting epidemiology research, has published over 60 peer reviewed manuscripts and served on local, regional and national review and advisory committees, such as the Brain Tumor Progress Review Group reporting jointly to the National Cancer Institute and the Institute of Neurological and Digestive Diseases. Dr. Davis was instrumental in the development of the data core for the Central Brain Tumor Registry of the United States (CBTRUS) and in generating background data that has led to legislative changes in the reporting requirements for brain tumors in the U.S. surveillance system which are being adopted internationally. She has also worked in the area of radiation and general cancer and reproductive epidemiology. She is currently Principle Investigator on a Case-Control study of renal cell cancer among Caucasian and African Americans in the United States funded by the National Cancer Institute and under an NCI funded Brain Tumor SPORE grant has a project to evaluate the Genetic and Environmental Risks and Outcomes for Brain Tumors. In addition, she is principle investigator of a cancer incidence cohort study to assess the results of environmental radiation exposure to populations living near the Mayak Industrial Association in the Southern Ural region of Russia. She is interested in developing epidemiologic methods that will facilitate population based research and works towards policy and infrastructure changes at the regional and national levels to ensure support for the discipline is maintained.
